The kick-meeting under the „Justice, fundamental rights, and Artificial Intelligence“ took place in Barcelona, Spain.
JuLIA aims to improve the understanding among judges of algorithmic decision-making processes and the legal implications for the right to a fair trial and other fundamental human rights and principles in five main areas: judicial decision-making, algorithmic governance, healthcare, consumer protection, and protection of personal data. Project activities envisage the creation of a database of useful materials and case law, the development of training methodology, training materials and manuals in the five areas of application, and the implementation of transnational trainings, justice labs and e-learning modules to target magistrates from all over Europe.
The project was funded by the European Union’s Justice Programme (2021-2027). LIBRe Foundation participates together with 10 other partner organizations from 7 different countries, under the management of the Pompeu Fabra University (Spain).
During the meeting, the partners discussed and approved key elements of the future development of the project, including individual stages and an overall implementation plan, and outlined the guidelines and criteria for publicity and evaluation strategies. LIBRe Foundation was presented by Alexandra Tsvetkova, managing director of the organization.
