Ordinance No 4 from 16 March 2017 on the Keeping, Storing, and Access to the Register of Judicial Decisions was promulgated (S.G., No. 28 from 04.04.2017).

The Register of Judicial Decisions has been designed as a web-based electronic database, which will comprise every formal adjudication on the substance of a case and all judicial acts closing or ceasing any further judicial proceedings, which can be appealed independently; including any accompanying information about the circumstances related to those judicial acts.

The Register will operate as a part of the Unified Information System for Courts (find here) and should be kept and stored in a way guaranteeing the integrity, accessibility, and security of the contained information.

The Ordinance was developed by an expert group to the Supreme Judicial Council, in which Alexandra Tsvetkova, director of LIBRe Foundation, is a key participant.

The Ordinance marks the beginning of a series of normative acts, which are to be promulgated, and is the first step towards a major e-Justice advance in Bulgaria. You could find more information on the topic in the series of publications by Alexandra Tsvetkova which are dedicated to the e-Justice development in Bulgaria, available at LIBRe Stories (the full texts of the publications are in Bulgarian).
