On October 10, 2017, the expert from LIBRe Foundation Alexandra Tsvetkova took part in the First National Round Table on the topic "Certification for Protection of Personal Data in Bulgaria and the EU according to Regulation (EU) 2016/679". The event was also attended by Representatives of state institutions, non-governmental organizations, private business, and academia.
The purpose of the round table was to discuss the views of all stakeholders. During the meeting the possibilities for certification, which the General Regulation provided, as well as a detailed review of the accreditation procedure BAS QR 2 of the National Accreditation Body of the Republic of Bulgaria - the Executive Agency "Bulgarian Accreditation Service" were discussed. Emphasis was placed on the importance of pooling the efforts of all relevant government bodies in the development of a single national standard. The Spanish and Italian experience in the field of accreditation and certification of the processing of personal data were presented in detail by Mr. Riccardo Giannetti, Certification Manager at InVeo SRL.
