In 2018, the Personal Data Protection Commission and the European Data Protection Supervisor will organise jointly the most important international forum in the field of data protection and privacy.
The 40th International Conference, to be held in Brussels and Sofia simultaneously, will contribute to the development of the discussion on the ethical dimension of personal data processing in the digital era and will take place under the title "Debating Ethics: Dignity and Respect in Data Driven Life".
For the first time, the conference is jointly organised by the European Data Protection Supervisor and a national data protection authority. 2018 provides an opportunity for the Bulgarian Data Protection Commission and the European Data Protection Supervisor to highlight the leading role of the European Union in shaping policies and means of protection of personal data and access to information worldwide.
The mission of the International Conference of Data Protection Commissioners is:
to be a significant international forum for meeting between regulators in the field of data protection and privacy on the one hand and business representatives on the other;
to disseminate knowledge and practical experience, to assist the authorities
to perform more efficiently their functions, and personal data controllers - their duties;
to provide leadership in the field of personal data protection and international privacy;
to connect and support efforts at local and regional level as well as in other international forums and to enable the authorities to better protect and promote the protection of personal data and privacy;
to be a platform for networking between different stakeholders in the field of personal data protection.
