А Second CARISMAND Citizen Summit was organised by the LIBRe team. This time the event which took place on Saturday 16 July was hosted by Malta. It was attended by 108 participants who engaged with presentations and discussions on subjects related to the CARISMAND project.
CARISMAND (Culture And RISk management in Man-made And Natural Disasters) is a three-year project investigating the effect of cultural factors on the level of preparedness, disaster response, and recovery. LIBRe Foundation works alongside 18 partners from 11 countries and is engaged with dissemination and communication activities, as well as the organisation of public events.
Each Citizen Summit deals with a number of specific topics related to different types of disasters and places at the centre of attention particular aspects that affect culturally informed disaster risk perceptions. The first event of this kind happened in Bucharest on 9 July 2016.
Both Citizens Summits were structured in a way that encourages participants to take an active part in the discussions through interactive presentations as well as in small group discussions of up to 12 people.
Participants’ feedback showed us that they found the topics presented interesting and enjoyed the opportunity to share their opinions throughout the group discussions and to communicate with a wide range of people from different backgrounds.
