The draft legislation regulates public relations related to the development and implementation of state policy in the field of innovations and defines the innovation policy at national and regional level.
The main objective is to increase the competitiveness of the Bulgarian economy, its transformation into knowledge economy based on sustainable growth with opportunities to meet the challenges of a globalizing world as well as to increase the business’ economic activity and to develop the innovative potential of the national economy.
Article 2 states that “this act aims to create conditions for enhanced economic growth through:
1. stability and predictability of the innovation policy;
2. coordination of development of policies in the field of education, science and innovation;
3. increase of the public and private funding for innovation;
4. relatedness between sources of funding for innovation;
5. improvement of the business environment by supporting the development of economic activity and reducing the regional imbalances;
6. establishment of conditions for increase of the competitiveness of the Bulgarian economic entities;
7. support to the implementation of innovative approaches to the production of goods and services."
The public consultation is open to all interested representatives of the business sector and will continue from 09.05.2016 until 25.05.2016.
