The purpose of the questionnaire is to collect information on trends and standards in privacy and data protection legislation in the field of audio and voice recognition across EU Member States and identify the actual status of legislation and practices regarding lawful interception and monitoring procedures in the above-mentioned countries. The questions аrе divided in five specific sections: lawful interception and monitoring; storage and use of gathered speech data; specific requirements for collection and storage; transparency and accountability; and information security.
The survey is conducted within an EU-funded FP7 Security project that aims at developing a break-through suspect identification solution based on a novel speaker-identification engine fusing multiple speech analytic algorithms that will assist law enforcement agencies in determining the identity of criminals who use telecommunications and Internet-based applications.
