Today is the European Day of Justice

The European Day of Justice is celebrated each year around the 25 October.

The European Day of Justice is celebrated each year around the 25 October. It aims to bring justice closer to citizens, to inform them on their rights and to promote the work of the Council of Europe and the European Commission in the field of justice, through simulation of procedures and information sessions.

To celebrate the European Day of Justice, local, national and international events will take place in 20 member states of the Council of Europe.

It is aimed at European citizens, students and people who work in the field of justice. In France, for example, the Notaries of France plan to hold a live information session on Facebook for an audience of expats. In Bosnia and Herzegovina, courts will open their doors to citizens, people who work in the field of justice and students. Another example is in Lithuania, where the courts all over the country will answer citizens' legal questions and present their activities.

Representatives of the Council of Europe will celebrate the European Day of Justice on the Crystal Scales of Justice Prize awarding ceremony which will be held at the Judicial Institute of Scotland on 27 October 2017.

The list of events organised in Europe can be consulted on the European Commission for the Efficiency of Justice (CEPEJ) website.
