Business Lab: NGO Market Approach

Stanislava Gancheva, expert at LIBRe Foundation, joined an interactive event for solving a particular case on the NGOs’ market approach with the participation of experts and audience. The event, which took place on 31.10.2016, was an initiative of the Business Institute under their Social Entrepreneurship Programme and was organised in partnership with the Reach for Change Foundation.

The case on which the discussions were focused was presented by the Information Portal of Nongovernmental Organizations (NGOs) in Bulgaria. The Portal holds the most up-to-date database for the non-profit sector in Bulgaria. Every registered organization can edit its profile and use the services of the portal – creating its own webpage, publishing materials on the library section and accessing all library resources, placing announcements for job vacancies, accessing the database of potential volunteers, posting press releases, news, events on the Calendar section and on the notice board.

The case of the NGO Portal was related to analysis and assessment of the opportunities for income accumulation through market approaches towards achieving sustainable financial autonomy of the platform. The Business Lab format of the event allowed the audience to take active part being in the role of the “Curious” and, together with the “Experts” from the Business Institute and a focus group of key NGO leaders using the NGO Portal, to suggest solutions for sustainable business model for development of the NGO Portal.

The event was hosted by the NGO House - a co-working space built on mutual support and cooperation between proactive citizens and organisations.
